Dentsply offers a full line of Cavitron Tips with the patented Focused Spray FS which provides ample cooling and flushing of work area without blocking your view. One of the first to offer the comfort grip design with a wider, ergonomic soft grip. Easier on the fingers and wrists, Cavitron Tips go easy on the clinician when operating for prolonged periods. Sometimes called Cavitron inserts, Dentsply offers multiple tip shapes and insert designs to match the angle at which you prefer to work. Cavitron tips are also color coded for additional ease in selecting correct components.
Cavitron Tips - Cleaning and Sterilization
One question we often encounter is how to care for Dentsply Cavitron Tips. Since ultrasonic scaler tips
usually come into contact with blood and saliva during the scaling process, contaminants should be removed from Cavitron tips prior to sterilization. Proper removal of these contaminants is important. Dentsply prefers that thermal disinfectors not be used to process cavitron tips, as these may cause unnecessary damage. Other pre-sterilization procedures, such as the use of ultrasonic cleaners is also discouraged, as the process can have adverse effects on insert tips. A very simple alternative to these methods would be simply rinsing under a strong water spray to remove gross debris prior to sterilization. Proper personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, and protective eye wear are recommended during Cavitron tip cleaning activities. Be sure to select Cavitron tips compatible with the frequency of your unit, such as 25K and 30K.
